Planning a Sensible GERD Diet

GERD is an acronym that stands for gastroesophageal reflux disease. Luckily, there are many easy to implement treatments for this condition. For example, changing your diet can be of big help. A GERD diet doesn't have to be bland and restrictive, as you will learn. However you will need to cut certain foods out.

One of the keystones of a successful acid reflux diet is cutting down on portion sizes. Rather than eating three large meals, try eating six small ones. Eating a large amount of food at once can lead to heartburn. When you eat is also important when planning a diet for GERD. Experts recommend heartburn sufferers to avoid eating soon before bed. Also, when you eat slow down. Try not to eat and run, instead give yourself ample time to chew small bites slowly. This helps reduce the chances of excess stomach acid rising in the esophagus.
