Phuket International Academy (PIA) Blueprint for Personal Development

A new international sports, education and wellness centre has been established in Thailand that provides unmatched facilities and programmes.  It is comprised of three synergistic  centres: the PIA Day School, the PIA Sports, Arts and Wellness Centre and the PIA Mind Centre.  They offer students, parents and those from the wider Phuket, as well as international communities, a modern, sustainable facility which focuses on education, sports, arts and wellness.  Located on the resort island of Phuket, Thailand, PIA is situated in an environment of natural beauty near a national park. PIA works to fulfill the intellectual, physical, creative and spiritual potential of all students, members and participants of the three centres.

The Phuket International Academy Day School (PIADS) is aspiring to become a three programme International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.  As a pioneering international school in Phuket, it will incorporate distinctive Asian culture with the best from Western educational traditions, to develop inquiring, informed, and empathetic young people who know how to live with integrity, cultivate genuine happiness, and strive to create a more peaceful and sustainable planet.   The Phuket International Academy Day School has excellent facilities, teachers, trainers, staff and administration.

Phuket International Academy Sports and Leisure Club (PIASLC) is partially constructed, and will shortly start to deliver a variety of world-class sports, arts, wellness and recreational facilities and programmes for the enjoyment of the school’s pupils, their families, the local Phuket community as well as for visiting professional and amateur individual athletes and teams from around the world.  PIASLC will set a benchmark as a regional hub for sports, arts and wellness in Thailand and Asia, and quite possibly the world.

Phuket International Academy Mind Centre (PIAMC) is nearing completion and will before long start to provide training in the cultivation of cognitive and emotional balance.   The PIAMC will  provide  a blend of contemporary psychology and neuroscience alongside traditional Asian contemplative practices.  Featuring accessibility, the Phuket International Academy Mind Centre conducts retreats and seminars.  Working in close interaction with the Phuket International Academy Day School and the PIA Sports and Leisure Club, the programmes offered through Phuket International Academy Mind Centre will contribute to everyone’s healthier mental balance and wellbeing.  April 10th marks the launch of the PIA Mind Centre (PIAMC) with a weekend “Genuine Happiness Retreat” led by Dr. B Alan Wallace.  The retreat incorporates two methods for cultivating meditative quiescence referred to as shamatha.  It teaches the practice of “mindfulness of breathing”, which is helpful way for soothing the body and calming the mind. A second method taught is both a shamatha practice and vipashyana, “insight meditation” or “settling the mind in its natural state”.

Phuket International Academy is an integrated facility hosting Phuket’s newest International School, a versatile Sports and Leisure Club for elite athletes, amateur enthusiasts, artists and wellness seekers – all within the Mind Centre sanctuary that provides training in the cultivation of mental and emotional equilibrium.
